The Official Launch of BEAM Plus Interiors (BI) Version 2.0

BEAM Society Limited (BSL) is excited to announce the official launch of BEAM Plus Interiors Version 2.0 (BI v2.0) with the conclusion of its Launch Ceremony co-organised with Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC) on 28 November 2023. [Press Release]

The upgraded version aims to provide an up-to-date, practical, clear, and standardised framework for defining the key elements of green interior spaces. These elements include health and wellbeing, hygiene, site impacts, materials usage, water quality, energy efficiency, and indoor environmental quality. By incorporating these performance indicators, BI v2.0 integrates various green features into a user-friendly assessment tool.

The scope of the new assessment tool covers the most common interior fit-out projects in Hong Kong, including workspaces, shopping spaces, food spaces, institutional spaces, hotel spaces, leisure & entertainment spaces, residential communal spaces, and hotel units. Additionally, it expands the applicability of BI to residential units and incorporates a separate set of assessment criteria and rating methods for this specific category.

To embrace the development in the Greater Bay Area and echo the Hong Kong Government’s policy initiatives in increasing collaboration with Mainland and Macao on various environmental issues, the Chinese versions ^{note 1} (Traditional Chinese & Simplified Chinese) of BI v2.0 are also introduced.
